Frontier Developments has unveiled the world-first gameplay for its zoo management simulation game, 'Planet Zoo 2,' during the PC Gaming Show.
'Planet Zoo 2' represents a generational leap over its predecessor, introducing aquatic and avian species to the series for the first time while placing a greater emphasis on conservation. Featuring high-quality fur, feather, and scale rendering alongside realistic animal behavior, it aims to be Frontier's most authentic zoo simulation to date. Players will restore damaged environments and release animals back into their natural habitats, realizing the ultimate goals pursued by zoos and conservation projects worldwide.
The trailer showcases habitat construction and the Scottish Highlands wildlife sanctuary, along with new animals such as the red deer, Masai giraffe, black-spotted puffer, white-tailed eagle, rhinoceros hornbill, and Eurasian beaver. These join the gray wolf, previously revealed during the Wholesome Direct on June 6, as well as the previously announced Sumatran tiger, hawksbill sea turtle, and toco toucan.
Key features include the debut of aquariums and aviaries, adding content set in water and the sky, as well as a 'Dynamic Needs' system where animals behave according to their current mood, and an expanded terrain editor.
'Planet Zoo 2' will be released on October 13 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is currently available for pre-order. Pre-order customers will receive a bonus content pack at launch. The Standard Edition is priced at ₩49900 ($49.99), while the Deluxe Edition, which includes six additional animals and exclusive decorations, is priced at ₩64900 ($64.99).
