Fellow Traveller and Dutch developer Wispfire unveiled the narrative RPG 'Red Kiss' during the PC Gaming Show.
Set in 1980s Berlin as the Cold War draws to a close, 'Red Kiss' follows a player who joins a vampire spy organization to engage in espionage. The game combines strategic gameplay, relationship-driven narrative, and reactive storytelling to explore themes of loyalty, suspicion, and desire.
Players take on the role of 'Augur', a newly turned vampire, and command agents via telepathy through Berlin's subway network. Recruited by a mysterious figure known as 'Daddy', the player must assemble a makeshift family of dangerous agents and balance espionage missions, interpersonal relationships, and the urge for bloodsucking. Between secret operations and high-stakes heists, players engage in deep conversations with characters and form 'Blood Bonds' to unlock new abilities and alter the course of the story.
Developer Wispfire has introduced a new approach to character presentation. By combining motion capture technology—typically used for VTubers—with Live2D animation, they have significantly enhanced the movement and emotional expression of their 2D characters.
'Red Kiss' is currently available to wishlist on Steam. Based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and founded in 2013, Wispfire specializes in choice-based narrative games that use genre fiction to explore real-world social and political themes. The studio previously received acclaim for its title 'Herald: An Interactive Period Drama'.
