'Road To Empress: Birth of an Empress' (hereinafter 'Road To Empress') chose Seoul as the venue for its first overseas fan meeting. On the evening of the 22nd, developer New One Studio hosted an offline event at the Gabin Art Hall in Gangnam District, Seoul, with four lead actors in attendance to celebrate the success of the new title, which surpassed 2 million copies sold just 12 days after its release.

The second installment of 'Road To Empress' was released globally on Steam and mobile on the 9th. According to official figures, it sold over 1 million copies in five days and 2 million in 12 days, bringing the cumulative sales of the series—including the first title released in September 2025—to over 4 million copies. This is a significant achievement for a live-action FMV game set in an Eastern imperial court, a genre distinct from the Western-style fantasy RPGs that dominate the global interactive game market. South Korea has been identified as a key market for the series, which is why the production team chose Seoul as the first overseas stop following their initial fan meeting in China.

The event featured lead actors Evie Huang (playing Wu Yuan-zuo), Kuan Hung (Li Chi), Zeawo Yao (Li Tai), and Hana Lin (Gao Yang). In a space decorated to resemble a royal palace, the actors shared stories about their connection to the work, memorable scenes, and behind-the-scenes anecdotes.

When asked about the sales success, Evie Huang said, "The first game sold 1 million copies, and this time we hit 1 million in five days and 2 million in 12 days. I think this is the best result we could have hoped for. Looking back at when I first joined the production, I am most happy that I was able to tell the story through my own perspective and style."

Kuan Hung recalled that when he first started filming, he felt like he was just shooting a drama. "I never expected it to gain such global popularity," he said. "I never imagined we would hold a fan meeting in Seoul, so I am truly happy and grateful to be here today."

Hana Lin called Gao Yang her "character of a lifetime." She expressed her hopes, saying, "I was so happy to hear that 4 million copies were sold. It feels like a new era for interactive works has begun, and I hope our project serves as a milestone."

Zeawo Yao said, "I personally loved the role of Li Tai and poured my heart into it. It was a joy to go through this process with such excellent actors and crew. I felt from the beginning that this was a special project, and I'm glad it led to such great results."

As the work is composed of live-action footage, each actor had their own most challenging scene.

Evie Huang chose the scene where she is interrogated by ministers in the court while wearing black mourning clothes, shortly after losing her daughter in the story. "It was the most difficult because I had to convey both the feeling of reprimanding the ministers and the sorrow of losing a child in a short amount of time. I'm glad I was able to pull it off," she said.

Kuan Hung recalled a scene from the "New World" route. He had to deliver about two-thirds of the dialogue himself, and it was difficult to maintain a consistent emotional flow while filming over several days. "I was able to finish it safely because my colleagues on set supported me so well," he added.

Zeawo Yao said, "I tend to feel and enjoy the process, which helps me immerse myself more. At first, I saw it as a challenge, but I learned a lot while working with such great actors."

Hana Lin remembered the scene in white robes where she argues with the King as her most difficult moment. It was filmed in near-freezing temperatures. "It was very hard to build up the emotions while exchanging intense lines in such cold weather," she said, expressing gratitude for the consideration shown by the actor playing the King.

The actors also shared their experiences playing the game themselves.

Evie Huang chose the scene from her time as a nun at the Gan-ye Temple. She initially thought she had made a wrong choice when only the 'Accept Fate' button appeared, but it was an intentional design where the 'Do Not Accept Fate' option appears if you wait a little longer. "It's the scene I remember most personally," she said.

Kuan Hung laughed as he recalled the scene where he had to knock on the palace gate. He struggled for a long time because he kept knocking instead of pressing and holding the button. "It wasn't even a difficult interaction, but I had a lot of trouble with it. I liked that such details increased the sense of immersion," he said.

Zeawo Yao read the philosophy of the work in the scene where he eats the osmanthus soup, the so-called 'death' scene. "If you think about what lies beneath, sometimes you need the courage to try. If you don't even try for fear of making a mistake, you lose the opportunity. You don't actually die if you try, so I think good results follow if you have the courage," he said.

Hana Lin said the scene where she begs Wu Yuan-zuo to save her was the most heartbreaking. Even though players might have tried repeatedly to save her, it was a conclusion where a sad choice was inevitable. "The foreshadowing laid out for Season 2 surrounding Gao Yang and Wu Yuan-zuo is truly amazing," she said, expressing her admiration for the writer.

After the talk, the event continued with an OX quiz and minigames with fans, during which more behind-the-scenes stories were revealed.

Kuan Hung revealed that he wore three layers of thermal underwear during the sub-zero winter shoot, while Evie Huang brought laughter by sharing that she only drank two cups of Americano during the entire shoot because three was too much. Zeawo Yao said he couldn't control his emotions while filming the farewell scene between Li Tai and Wu Yuan-zuo, crying for about five minutes before he could calm down.

Hana Lin shared that she burst into tears during both the scene where the 'Fool' is executed and the scene where she asks Wu Yuan-zuo for help, noting that her personality is very similar to Gao Yang's, which helped her express the character better.

Creator RoofTopCAT appeared as a special guest to conduct a mini-interview. Afterward, the actors drew their most memorable scenes.

Zeawo Yao drew the scene where he hands over a hairpin on a snowy day. "I acted in this scene by pouring in the memories I hold dear. I think the hairpin is a very special object," he said. Hana Lin chose the scene where the "Fool" saves her, saying, "Whatever choice Wu Yuan-zuo makes in the future, I want to support him as a friend."

After all the segments concluded, the actors thanked their fans and wrapped up the event with a group photo. Meanwhile, 'Road To Empress' is scheduled to release a Nintendo Switch bundle version containing both the first and second titles in 2026.
