The 'Halo' series is widely considered a flagship title for Xbox and a game that opened a new chapter for the FPS genre. During the Xbox Game Showcase, the latest details were revealed for 'Halo: Campaign Evolved,' a remake of the series' debut title, 'Halo: Combat Evolved.'
The new trailer focuses on three missions added to 'Halo: Campaign Evolved.' These new missions are set before the events of the original 'Halo: Combat Evolved.' Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson participate in 'Operation Meteor,' a secret mission to infiltrate an unidentified Covenant ship.
As both a remake and the latest entry in the series, the game shows a significant leap in visuals. With more realistic character modeling and vastly improved graphics—including textures and lighting effects—the game offers a more immersive experience.
The new missions introduce fresh aerial combat elements alongside traditional gameplay. The trailer features scenes such as hijacking a Covenant ship to launch a counter-attack on their mothership. Serving as both a remake and an expansion with new content, 'Halo: Campaign Evolved' is effectively a definitive edition and is scheduled for release on July 28, 2026, for Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
Meanwhile, those who pre-order the Premium or Collector's Editions will be granted early access starting July 23, five days ahead of the official launch.
