Ubisoft has officially released 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Rethinked,' a remake of the 2013 title 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' rebuilt using the Anvil engine. In addition to visual and technical improvements such as ray tracing, micro-polygon rendering, and dynamic weather, the game features modernized combat, stealth, and sailing systems. New story content featuring fan-favorite characters like Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet has also been added. Conversely, the RPG-style progression elements seen in Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows have been stripped away, marking a return to the classic, stealth-focused gameplay style, complete with the removal of levels and equipment scores.
The launch performance is notable even by series standards. It topped the Steam top-selling charts, and on its first day, it recorded 99451 concurrent players on Steam. This figure surpasses the 64825 players for last year's 'Shadows,' making it the highest initial concurrent player count for an Assassin's Creed series title on Steam. However, direct comparisons are limited as some previous titles, like Valhalla, were released on Steam much later. According to analytics firm Alinea Analytics, approximately 300k copies had already been sold on Steam two days before launch, generating around $14 million in revenue—a figure that has already surpassed the cumulative Steam sales of 'Skull and Bones,' another pirate game developed by Ubisoft Singapore.
Despite its commercial success, user reception has been divided. Steam user reviews remained 'Mixed' immediately after launch due to controversies over microtransactions. Additionally, issues with cutscenes being locked at 30 FPS were pointed out; Ubisoft has acknowledged this and stated it will be fixed in a future update.
Nevertheless, this positive performance is seen as a necessary signal of a rebound for Ubisoft, which has been struggling with the underperformance of its live-service games and corporate restructuring. Analysts suggest that the player base, fatigued by the bloated open worlds of the Odyssey and Valhalla era, has welcomed the return to the tighter, original structure of the earlier series.

NEW | Upcoming Releases & Updates
■ Release | Palworld | INVEN GAMES

'Palworld' has officially launched its 1 version after two and a half years in early access. Content is provided as a free update to existing owners, and the price has remained unchanged since the official launch to lower the barrier to entry for new players. While save data is preserved, PocketPair recommends starting a new game due to the significant scale of the system overhaul.
This 1 release is a major patch that PocketPair describes as 'larger than any update released to date,' with patch notes spanning 27 pages. The volume of changes was so extensive that it could not be fully posted on the Steam news feed. The 'World Tree,' which was only visible beyond the red barrier since the early access days, has finally opened as an endgame area, and a new exploration zone, Sky Island, has been added above the Palpagos Islands. New features include the 'Wing Pack' equipment, which allows flight without consuming party slots, a gene recombination system for legendary Pals, and a PVP mode. A large number of new Pals, such as Sword Dragon and Sword Eel, have also been added, expanding combat and exploration options.
■ Release | Echoes of Aincrad | INVEN GAMES

The newly released 'Echoes of Aincrad' is a new action RPG based on Sword Art Online. Set on the first and second floors of Aincrad from the original work, the game features a player-created character—rather than Kirito—navigating the death game. It supports real-time combat based on six weapon classes and a 'Death Game Mode' where save data is permanently deleted upon death.
