In the MSI 2025 Bracket Stage Round 1, Anyone’s Legend (AL) defeated FlyQuest (FLY) 3–1 to advance to the next phase. Making their first-ever appearance at MSI, AL marked their debut victory by demonstrating an overwhelming disparity in power. Despite being lauded as the best-performing Western squad, FLY were unable to breach AL’s wall of execution.
In Game 1, a surprising upset defied expectations. FLY opened the series on a high note, capturing the win despite an early mishap: their Galio conceded first blood. However, at the 17-minute Rift Herald skirmish, FLY secured the enemy ADC, turning the tide in their favor. They followed up with a mid-lane solo kill and then eliminated AL’s jungler, seizing complete control. AL’s attempts to respond were formidable, but a 5-on-5 team fight ended in an ace for FLY, who closed out the game with a 10,000-gold lead. FLY’s explosive performance showed that their dominant pressure on Gen.G at last year’s Worlds was no fluke.
AL treated Game 1 as little more than a fluke, utterly dominating Game 2. In the top lane, AL secured two solo kills, shattering FLY’s laning phase and leaving their top lane exposed. FLY’s jungler, unable to find relief in the top half of the map, looked to make plays in the bottom lane—but AL anticipated these moves perfectly. By counter-ganking and collapsing, AL exploded the map open and, without facing any significant threat thereafter, closed out the series decider.
In Game 3, FLY again showed moments of strength, but AL steadily accumulated dragon stacks and ran away with the match. FLY opted for a poke-oriented mid-lane strategy with Twisted Fate, while AL drafted a strong team-fight composition around Azir and Wukong. Even as FLY tried to thread their early picks into skirmishes, AL’s focus on the dragons forced decisive engagements and prevented FLY from avoiding their superior team fights. Champions like Twisted Fate and Jhin lacked the raw team-fight power to overcome AL’s tempo, and though each team sought fights on different fronts, AL dictated the battlefield from start to finish.
Game 4 mirrored the swift resolution of Game 2. In the early small- and mid-sized skirmishes, AL showcased impeccable crowd-control chains and map setups. At the heart of these plays were AL’s two Korean stars: jungler Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong and support Kim "Kael" Jin-hong. Their outstanding synergy in these early fights allowed AL to snowball effortlessly, widening the gap and cruising to the series victory without a single scare.
With this triumph, AL proved themselves a formidable contender in their inaugural MSI bracket campaign—highlighted by the stellar performances of Tarzan and Kael. Next, AL will face Gen.G eSports, while FLY, despite high praise, drop into the elimination bracket.
