The release of 'Super Danganronpa 2x2,' currently in development by Spike Chunsoft, has been pushed from 2026 to early 2027.
Spike Chunsoft announced the delay to early 2027 during Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles. A specific release date will be announced at a later time. Producer Shohei Sakakibara shared a message stating, "We will continue to work hard to deliver a better product," and added, "We appreciate your patience as we work toward the release."

New information regarding the game was also unveiled. Super Danganronpa 2x2 is based on 'Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair,' and players can choose between two modes: Original and Slayhem. Both modes are available from the start of the game. The Original mode allows players to experience the story of the 2012 original with enhanced graphics and updated game systems.
The newly revealed Slayhem mode is a new mode that offers a completely different story based on the original game. It features a series of events where different victims, perpetrators, and tricks emerge following a specific incident. Slayhem mode offers approximately 20% more content than the Original mode.

The world map has also received a major update. While the original game used a side-scrolling map for navigation, Super Danganronpa 2x2 introduces a 3D world map that provides a clearer view of the island's terrain. Players can explore the island as they wish, moving freely or selecting a destination for instant travel. The 3D map, viewed from a first-person perspective, is designed to further enhance the tropical atmosphere.
New illustrations have been applied to character portraits, and some of these updated character images have been revealed on the official website.
Super Danganronpa 2x2 is scheduled for release in early 2027 on PC, PS5, XSX|S, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2. However, according to the Steam shop page, it appears that Korean language support will not be included.
