UFL confirmed as official game for Phygital Football

Football title UFL has been confirmed as the official game for the digital phase of Phygital Football at the Games of the Future (GOTF) 2026, set to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan this August. Teams will compete for a total prize pool of US$625,000 (~£492,000).

According to a release, Phygital Football combines a digital gameplay phase — played in UFL — with a live five-a-side match on the pitch, with combined results determining the overall winner. The competition will run from August 4th–9th at the Athletics Sports Complex "Qazaqstan" in Astana.

Teams confirmed so far

Several clubs have already secured their spots at GOTF 2026. CD Holcattes (Guatemala), Peñarol (Uruguay), and Orlando Pirates (South Africa) have all qualified directly, and will be joined by defending champions Mexico Quetzales Armadillos FC.

The remaining qualification places will be decided at Phygital Contenders 2026 Astana, scheduled for June 10th–15th, with clubs from Cyprus, Brazil, Peru and elsewhere competing for the final slots.

Phygital Football is one of eight disciplines at GOTF 2026, where more than 900 participants from over 50 nationalities are expected to compete for a combined prize pool of over US$4m (~£3.15m). The event is also set to welcome more than 100,000 fans across its venues.

Further details on participating teams, qualification pathways, and broadcast information are expected to be released on the official GOTF website in the coming weeks.
