Solo indie developer SingKeys announced on the 2nd that the first free demo for the 2D action RPG 'The Book of Prosperity' has been released on Steam and will be featured in the global indie game showcase 'Best Indie Games Summer Showcase 2026.'

'The Book of Prosperity' is a project SingKeys developed over seven years while working a full-time job. Set in a parallel dimension where magic intersects with modern-day Hong Kong, the developer handled all aspects of the game, including graphics, programming, scenario, and game design. Eschewing AI-generated assets, the game captures the urban atmosphere of Hong Kong through over 500 frames of hand-drawn pixel animation.

Players take on the role of a student named 'Cyrus,' fighting against 'The Circle,' an organization attempting to erase history in a parallel dimension. The game features a combat system centered on parrying and parkour, incorporating local cultural elements such as using everyday objects like math textbooks as weapons. The text and UI support Cantonese, and the soundtrack was created in collaboration with independent Hong Kong musicians and artists.

The free demo version allows players to explore three areas, including city streets and an underground lava cave. It also offers two playable skills, a multi-stage boss battle, and classroom minigame content featuring items like a chalkboard eraser.

A new trailer for 'The Book of Prosperity' is available on the official YouTube channel, and the game is scheduled for an official release on Steam in early 2027.
