Juan "Contractz" Garcia has joined 100 Thieves Academy for the 2020 season. The former Golden Guardians Jungler will start outside of the LCS for the first time since his debut with Cloud9 in the 2017 NA LCS Summer Split.

Despite a strong rookie split with C9, El Contrato's past two seasons with Golden Guardians have left much to be desired. Contractz and GGS expected a bounceback in 2019 after back-to-back 10th place finishes in the 2018 NA LCS season.

However, GGS failed to followup a Spring Quarterfinals appearance in summer and finished 7th in the 2019 LCS Summer Split. Most notably, Contractz' lows looked lower than ever: the Jungler led the LCS in deaths in final split with GGS, and the organization decided to make a change.

Royal Youth Jungler and 2019 TCL Summer MVP Can "Closer" Çelik was signed as part of GGS' retooling of its roster around star Top Laner Kevin "Hauntzer" Yarnell along with former Cloud9 Academy Mid Laner Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer.

Two New Thieves

The same morning Golden Guardians confirmed its parting of ways with Contractz, 100 Thieves also announced that the Jungler would be joining 100 Thieves Academy alongside Support Brindon "Breezyyy" Keesey. Breezyyy most recently played in the collegiate circuit for Arizona State University, and was also a member of Dramatik Gaming. Both roster moves for 100A are still pending Riot approval as of the publishing of this article.

Contractz took to twitter to express his excitement in joining his new team, and also shared his future goals and outlook for 2020:

"Getting back into LCS is definitely still the main goal. I do believe I have what it takes to compete at the top. I will use this new journey to gain more experience and really find what I need to work on as a player. Thanks for the support guys!"
