SK Telecom T1 has qualified for the 2019 League of Legends World Championship.
On the 25th (KST), SK Telecom T1 defeated DAMWON Gaming to reach the 2019 LCK Summer Split Finals. They will be playing against regular season champions, Griffin, whom they defeated in the previous spring split finals. As of the win, SKT accumulated enough championship points for Worlds; they will be heading to the world championship regardless of the results in the finals.
This is the 5th time SKT has reached Worlds. Of the four times they had been to Worlds, they won the championship three times (2013, 2015, 2016), and became the runner-up (2017) once. Many members of the team has changed since their last Worlds appearance, but the legend, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-kyun are still there, showing confidence.
Up to now, a total of six teams have qualified for Worlds: G2 Esports from LEC, Griffin and SK Telecom T1 from the LCK, Team Liquid and Cloud9 from the LCS, and J Team from the LMS.
