Support Big joins OpTic Gaming

Left without a support player since the departure of veteran Daerek "LemonNation" Hart after the end of the Spring Split, OpTic Gaming has finally filled the role. According to Riot’s official contract database, Terry "Big" Chuong has joined the organization and will be the team’s starting support for the upcoming NA LCS Summer Split.

Big previously played for Team Dignitas in last year’s NA LCS Summer Split, before being benched for Adrian “Adrian” Ma after the conclusion of Week 5 of the Regular Season, which saw the team going 0-2 following unexpected losses to FlyQuest and Team EnVyUs. Before joining Dignitas, he was under contract with the Echo Fox organization, where he played for most of 2016 before joining Delta Fox for the 2017 Challenger Series Spring Split.

Despite OpTic’s disappointing maiden split in the NA LCS, where they went 5-13 to finish the Regular Season only in ninth place, Big will be the sole addition to the organization’s starting line-up. The other four members - Niship "Dhokla" Doshi, Matthew "Akaadian" Higginbotham, Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage, and Noh "Arrow" Dong-hyeon – are retaining their spots for the Summer Split.

Dhokla, however, wasn’t the starting top laner at the start of the season. He gained the position in Week 6, in expense of Derek "zig" Shao, who has since then left OpTic and has joined the Golden Guardians’ Academy team.

The contract database unrevealed some changes to OpTic’s Academy roster as well. Rounding up the line-up around mid laner Cristian "Palafox" Palafox, top laner Kieran "Allorim" Logue, jungler Gabriel "Fanatiik" Saucier, ADC Johnson "Eclipse" Cao, and support Austin "Gate" Yu have joined the team.

They will be definitely be looking to show an improved performance following an equally disappointing Academy League Spring Split for OpTic’s secondary team, where they also ended ninth with a meager record of 6-12.

The 2018 NA LCS Summer Split kicks-off on June 16, with OpTic Gaming facing the Golden Guardians in the opening day, before closing out Week 1 against Cloud 9 the day after.
