G2 and PUBG MOBILE announce Dust II-inspired community tournament

G2 Esports and PUBG MOBILE have announced an amateur community tournament played on a PUBG MOBILE map inspired by Dust II, one of the most recognisable maps in Counter-Strike.

According to a release, the G2 x PUBG MOBILE: Community Challenge will run from October 24th-25th on a custom map named ‘PMG2’. The esports organisation and the mobile battle royale title said the event was built to introduce G2 and Counter-Strike fans to PUBG MOBILE esports through a setting they already know. Prizes ranging from gift cards to merchandise will go to the teams that reach the Finals.

The crossover extends to the rules as well as the map. Rather than the battle royale format PUBG MOBILE is known for, teams will go head-to-head in 5v5 classic versus matches in a bomb-defusal mode, with a single life per player.

How the Community Challenge will play out

The tournament opens on Saturday, October 24th with two qualifiers, one in an afternoon block and one in the evening. Each will feature 32 teams in a best-of-one, single-elimination bracket, for a total of 64 teams across the day. The top two sides from each qualifier will advance.

Those four teams will then meet on Sunday, October 25th in another single-elimination bracket, with every match from the semifinals onwards played as a best-of-three. The semifinal winners will contest the Final, while the two beaten sides play off for third place.

Who can take part

Entry is reserved for amateur players only. According to the release, semi-pro and pro players are not eligible, and neither is anyone who competed in the Group Stage of the 2026 PUBG MOBILE Club Open (PMCO). Players must also be at least 16 years of age and based in Western Europe, and can compete on any mobile or tablet device that supports the game.

Teams must register with a minimum of four players and a maximum of five, alongside one substitute. Registration opened on October 14th and closes on Friday, October 23rd. Coordination, match schedules and results will all be handled through the official G2 Discord server.

The Community Challenge is the latest activity to come out of G2 Esports’ partnership with PUBG MOBILE, which the release described as continuing. G2 added that fans interested in taking part could join its Discord to follow updates ahead of the opening qualifiers.
