Call of Duty League (CDL) Major II will take place at DreamHack Birmingham 2027 from April 2nd to 4th, Activision has announced.
The event brings the CDL, the top tier of competitive Call of Duty, back to the UK. According to the announcement, the last CDL Major held in Birmingham was the biggest UK Call of Duty esports event staged to date and sold out faster than any other CDL event. DreamHack Birmingham forms part of the wider DreamHack festival series, which runs gaming and esports events across several countries.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be the title used for CDL competition in 2027, including Major II. Activision said the Major would test how well teams had got to grips with the game, pointing to its ‘cutting-edge gameplay’ and the strategy needed to compete on it. Teams will have had the opening stretch of the season to work out how the title plays at the highest level.
Everything announced about CDL Major II at DreamHack Birmingham 2027
Major II will feature the first Pro-Am of the season, putting the top four Challengers teams from the opening competitions up against the 12 CDL pro teams. Challengers is the CDL’s open competition, where amateur and semi-professional players compete below the league’s pro sides.
The route into Major II has also changed. Activision has introduced a qualifying gauntlet in the form of Qualifying Tournaments, made up of two separate online tournaments that each run across two weeks. The two events use different formats.
The first is a double-elimination tournament, with the top four teams handed a bye into the second round of the winners bracket. Seeding will be decided by CDL regular season standings once Minor Tournament III has finished.
The second qualifier opens with a round-robin group stage of four groups, each containing three CDL teams. The top two sides from every group will progress into an eight-team double-elimination bracket. Activision said the contrasting formats would test each team’s ‘adaptability, resilience and mindset’.
Major II will also host a Challengers Open, with team passes due to go on sale closer to the event. According to the announcement, the key dates in the run-up to the Major are as follows:

February 26th-28th: Minor Online Tournament (Pro-Am)
March 5th-28th: Online Qualifier Tournaments
April 2nd-4th: Major LAN Tournament
