HoYoverse announced on October 12 that Version 3.3 of Zenless Zone Zero, titled "Journey to the Sky," will be updated on October 21. The update introduces new S-Rank Agents and directly controllable mech combat content.
The new Agents will be released in two phases, with Phoenix appearing in the first half and Severian in the second half. Phoenix, an S-Rank Fire Anomaly Agent, inflicts "Sear" on enemies affected by an Anomaly, allowing subsequent Anomaly damage to trigger critical hits. Upon receiving a fatal blow, she recovers HP through "Rebirth" to return to battle. Severian, an S-Rank Wind Attack Agent, automatically dodges and counterattacks when attacked. Landing specific skills builds up energy, allowing him to unleash a powerful series of slashes.
Reruns will also be split across the two halves. The first half features S-Rank Agent Velina alongside her signature W-Engine "Luminous Heart," while the second half brings back Norma and her signature W-Engine "Chief Assistant." New outfits for Phoenix and Severian will also be revealed.
The main story centers on the conflict surrounding Roscaelifer, a sky island under lockdown. The Proxy infiltrates the remote reaches of High Ambitions Corp. alongside Lindverne. There, they track down the secrets behind the three Sunbringers and the Karma Cores within their bodies.
The combat mech piloted during the story is created through Lindverne's Karma Core ability, "Genesis Reconstruction." Players can freely switch between melee and ranged attack modes, utilizing laser weaponry and environmental elements to navigate combat and puzzle mechanics.
Through the version check-in event, players can earn a total of 10 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons. Limited-time events include "Night of Supernatural Tricks" set in Lumina Square and the VR game "Spooky Funhouse Tales." Event rewards feature an Angels of Delusion outfit, a new A-Rank W-Engine, Proxy accessories, and more.
A new season titled "Strange Trial" will be added to the permanent content "Bizarre Labyrinth." For quality-of-life improvements, the "Fairy" feature will be introduced to recommend party compositions and strategy directions, alongside dedicated control tutorial videos for select Agents.
A collaboration between Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail was also teased. Specific details will be revealed at a later date.
Zenless Zone Zero will also participate in G-STAR 2026, held over four days from November 19 to 22 at BEXCO in Busan. On-site, the game will present events and limited welcome kits through "G-STAR Emergency Commission: ZERO IN ALL OUT."
