Gravity announced on October 12 that funding for its Ragnarok IP board game surpassed $300,000 in just four days since opening. The target goal of $50,000 was surpassed in approximately 10 minutes after funding began.
Crowdfunding for Ragnarok the Board Game: Ceremony of Prontera launched on Kickstarter on October 6. In Korean won terms provided by Gravity, the $50,000 goal is approximately 67 million won, while the $300,000 raised in four days equals around 402 million won. The campaign will run until November 6, with shipping scheduled to begin in December this year.
The game is a dungeon crawling adventure board game for 1 to 4 players based on Ragnarok Online. It translates iconic skills from the original game into a card-based system, designed for strategic play using various scenarios and unique behavior patterns for each monster.
Players create a character, choose a 1st class job, and explore Prontera and its surrounding regions. During their adventure, players can undertake NPC quests, acquire equipment and resources, and advance to 2nd class jobs. After growing their characters, players take on the final challenge against MVP monsters.
Jin-on Park, IP Business Team Leader at Gravity, stated, "We would like to thank all the players who sent their passionate support as soon as funding opened. By bringing key content, skills, and major in-game cities like Prontera—which players previously only experienced on screen—to a board game, we believe it will hold plenty of value as a collector's item for any Ragnarok player."
