After a disappointing Spring Split in Turkey, finishing far from the top positions with 1907 Fenerbahçe, jungler Lee "Chaser" Sang-hyun will embark on a journey across the Atlantic – more precisely to Brazil. According to a report by SporTV, the Korean will join CBLoL’s side RED Canids, making him the third Korean player in the team’s roster, after both jungler Park "Winged" Tae-jin and mid laner Kim "Sky" Ha-neul have joined the organization in December.
However, as only two non-Brazilian residents are allowing in any team’s starting line-up, Chaser will likely be arriving to replace his countrymen, whose performances were criticized by some throughout the split, which saw RED Canids pulling a strong show, finishing in second place in the regular season – losing the seed directly into the finals only on the tiebreaker to eventual champions Kabum – before dropping in the semi-finals after an extensive 5-game series to Vivo Keyd.
Despite not confirming Chaser’s arrival yet, the organization dropped a small teaser online, with a Tweet showing a picture of the South Korean flag with the caption “you wanted news? Wait a little bit more,” indicating that the official announcement is imminent.
Chaser started his career playing for Jin Air Greenwings, where he was the starting jungler for 2 years. After a short stint with Incredible Miracle, he joined Longzhu Gaming – now Kingzone – for the 2016 season. Following a rough year, with mediocre performances domestically, he joined Team Dignitas in the NA LCS, losing his starting position to Lee "Shrimp" Byeong-hoon at the start of the 2017 NA LCS Summer Split.
Defending 1907 Fenerbahçe’s colors in this year’s Spring Split, he played 32 games on 10 different champions, holding a respectable KDA of 5.3 – highest of all junglers in the league, despite the 5th/6th place finish.
