Bethesda has revealed the official title of 'The Elder Scrolls VI'. Subtitled for the first time in eight years since its initial reveal in 2018, the game is officially named 'The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel'.
On the 3rd local time, Bethesda uploaded a 40th anniversary video titled 'Celebrating 40 Years of Bethesda Game Studios' to its official YouTube channel. The game logo featuring the title appeared at the very end of the video. In the video, executive producer Todd Howard noted that "everyone is always asking about The Elder Scrolls VI," explaining that the 40th anniversary was the perfect time to reveal the title.
The video was filmed in Bethesda, Maryland, where the studio was founded. Looking back on the company's first project in 1986—a physics-based sports game—Howard went through the studio's release history in sequence, starting with 1994's 'The Elder Scrolls: Arena', followed by Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout, and Starfield. He added that Skyrim remains Bethesda's most-played game even 15 years after its release.

Fallout and The Elder Scrolls were mentioned as the series the studio will focus on in the future. Indeed, Bethesda previously revealed its development roadmap in a message to fans last July, sharing that multiple Fallout titles and The Elder Scrolls VI are currently in development.
The Elder Scrolls VI was first revealed at the E3 showcase in June 2018. At the time, only a brief teaser and title card were shown, meaning it took more than eight years for a subtitled name to surface. However, despite the long wait and the initial title reveal, nothing regarding game content was shown beyond the logo. It is expected that the release will take even longer.
Meanwhile, Bethesda closed out the video by asking fans to join them for the next 40 years, leaving the release date and platforms for 'The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel' unannounced.
