Bandai Namco Entertainment officially announced its new online team battle action title, 'Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3', on October 28. The game will launch on PS5 and PC (Steam), supporting cross-play to allow players on both platforms to meet on the same battlefield for the first time in the series. It will be free-to-play, with the official launch date yet to be determined.
The core gameplay framework retains the signature combined combat between Mobile Suits and infantry from previous entries. Players can engage in heavy firepower battles aboard massive mechs, while also disembarking when necessary to capture bases or execute surprise attacks as infantry, delivering multi-layered team battles. With cross-platform barriers removed, matchmaking pools and the overall scale of battlefields are expected to become even more stable.
A range of new systems designed to expand tactical variables and lower the entry barrier have also been introduced. The most notable change is the 'SP Skills' granted to all Mobile Suits. Each unit is equipped with special abilities that directly influence the flow of battle, broadening tactical options based on skill timing beyond simple weapon switching. Additionally, a 'Battle Assist' feature has been added to reduce complex control burdens and facilitate combos, allowing new players unfamiliar with the series' signature heavy controls to adapt quickly to combat.
The roster spectrum is also expanding significantly. Unlike previous titles that focused their unit lineups primarily on Universal Century (UC) series, 'Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3' will feature 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED'—a representative non-UC work—at launch. Bandai Namco Entertainment plans to sequentially add two to three additional non-UC series during the first year of official service to continually broaden the featured lineup.
An advance network test to check server stability and gameplay ahead of the official launch was also announced. This test will be limited to players of the previous game, 'Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2', residing in Japan. Registration opens on October 29 via in-game notices in the previous title, and the actual test will take place across two days on November 20 and 22 on PS5 and Steam.
