NACON and creā-ture Studios have released the Barcelona DLC for Session: Skate Sim, taking the skateboarding simulation game to a new city map on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

According to a release, the Barcelona DLC is available now for $7.99 / £6.69 / €7.99. On top of the map, it adds seven new items to the game's object dropper, which players use to place props and obstacles around a spot. A new trailer shows off the city.

Barcelona is the next stop after Paris, Prague and California. The release calls it the skateboarding capital of Europe and notes that every great skate video compilation has footage from the city. Players can ride its marble plazas and grind ledges that run as far as the eye can see.

A skate sim set in the 1990s

Session: Skate Sim is built around 1990s street skating, when any stretch of pavement or stairway could become a spot. The release describes its physics as ultra-realistic.

Its best-known feature is the True Stance Stick control scheme. Each foot is handled separately with one of the two analog sticks, which the release calls a first for a skateboarding game. The learning curve is steep (players have to practice board control before they can land harder tricks). A built-in editing tool lets players turn their best runs into videos.

The game first launched on Steam on September 22nd, 2022. According to the release, it now has more than 4 million players worldwide and has received at least eight additional content packs plus numerous updates since launch.

Session: Skate Sim is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch and the NACON store. More details are on the official website.
