On September 19, as TGS 2026 opened its doors to the general public, another gaming festival kicked off at TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall, located near Makuhari Messe. This dedicated space, titled 'Family Game Park 2026' (FAMILY GAME PARK 2026), is designed specifically for children up to junior high school age and their families. Free to enter for children and their accompanying guardians, the area was created so the whole family could enjoy games together in a setting distinctly different from the bustling main exhibition halls.
The venue was largely divided into two themes: 'Play' and 'Learn.' At 'Asobi-ba' (Play Area), kids could get hands-on experience with the latest games suited for their age group, while 'Manabi-ba' (Learn Area) hosted exhibitions and workshops introducing game development processes and careers in the gaming industry. Additionally, programs tailored for family visitors included kids' stages, stamp rallies, and events featuring familiar game characters like 'Puyo Puyo,' 'Final Fantasy,' and 'Bomberman.' This year, Sanrio characters also joined in with ambassador programs and game demos.
