Dragonfly is launching the official service for its PC FPS Special Force Remastered at noon on September 17. The preceding pre-registration attracted over 100,000 players, successfully reaching the target goal. To mark the milestone, the company decided to award a '100k Pre-Registration Milestone Reward' to all players who log into the game. In addition, new users will receive a 'Welcome Package' limited to once per account, which can be claimed through the 'Mailbox' located in the lobby.
Since its debut in 2004, the original Special Force ranked first in PC bang market share for 79 consecutive weeks. It set record figures with 6 million cumulative domestic registered users and 100 million cumulative global players, standing as a landmark first-generation title that led domestic and international esports markets for over 20 years. Under the leadership of Executive Producer Park Chul-seung, the new game retains the authenticity of the original while introducing Unreal Engine 5 to deliver enhanced graphics. Additionally, it introduces a variety of new in-game features, including 'Weapon Growth' and 'Customization', 'Tactical Equipment' spanning drones and RPGs, 'Seasonal Ranked Matches', a 'Battle Pass', and a 'Firing Range'.
To mark the launch, a variety of events have been prepared, including the 'Rally Scattered Comrades in Arms!' event, as well as the 'Golden Wagon', 'SNS Play Review', and 'Ranked Match' events. The development team ran Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store for approximately six months since last March, successfully finalizing system stabilization and optimization based on collected data. Players can now jump into the game immediately via the official website, STOVE, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
A Dragonfly official stated, “Surpassing 100,000 pre-registrations is the result of every single player who remembered Special Force for a long time and waited for its new beginning. Gathering old comrades and new players together on a single battlefield is the true significance of this official launch.”
They added, “Taking September 17 as a new starting point, we will listen more closely to our players' voices, continuously improve where needed, and write a new chapter in the history of Special Force.”
