
Gamescom 2026 concluded on August 29, attracting 368,000 visitors from 131 countries. Attendees from outside Germany rose 6% year-over-year, while trade visitors totaled over 36,000. Among trade visitors, international attendees accounted for more than 50%.
This year's event featured 1,743 companies from 66 countries filling approximately 233,000 square meters of exhibition space. The number of participating companies grew by 11% compared to the previous year, with exhibition booths completely selling out for the first time. The proportion of international exhibitors reached an all-time high of 72%, with 41 countries operating a total of 48 national pavilions.
From South Korea, a total of 36 companies participated, including major corporations such as KRAFTON, Samsung Electronics, NC, Pearl Abyss, Ocean Drive Studio, and Shift Up, alongside indie game developers. The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the Chungbuk Content Agency operated Korean pavilions to support domestic small-to-medium and indie game studios in expanding abroad and unlocking business opportunities.
Representatives from major Korean companies, including Naver Webtoon, NEOWIZ, Nexon Korea, Smilegate, Wemade, Webzen, Kakao Games, Hyundai Motor, and LG Electronics, also visited the site. A National Assembly delegation—comprising Representatives Kim Seong-hoe and Jo Seoung-lae of the Democratic Party of Korea, Representative Lee Hae-min of the Rebuilding Korea Party, and Representative Jeong Yeon-uk of the People Power Party—attended to inspect measures for supporting Korean game developers expanding overseas and to assess global market trends.
During the opening showcase, 'Opening Night Live (ONL),' new titles, trailers, and release windows were unveiled. KRAFTON presented videos for five upcoming titles: 'Project ZETA', 'Age Twisters', 'PUBG: DED.NET', 'NO LAW', and 'TARAE: The Unbound'. NC revealed new videos for 'AION 2' and 'CINDER CITY' alongside 'Like or Die', while Pearl Abyss introduced a new trailer for 'Crimson Desert Enhanced'.
At the Gamescom Awards, CD PROJEKT RED and SEGA won three categories each. CD PROJEKT RED earned awards for a trailer, exhibition booth, and merchandise related to 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt', while SEGA was recognized for 'Alien: Isolation 2', 'Total War: Warhammer 40,000', and its overall title lineup. Capcom's 'Onimusha' secured two awards.
Online engagement also surged, with cumulative views for related content reaching approximately 624 million as of the evening of August 29. ONL views surpassed 78 million, while 'Gamescom Awesome Indies', which highlights indie titles, recorded 302,000 views, representing an increase of over 670% year-over-year.
Gamescom 2027 will take place from August 23 to 29, 2027. Registration is scheduled to open in late 2026.
