On September 16, Neowiz announced that it signed an IP agreement with Japanese game developer Nihon Falcom for 'The Legend of Heroes III: White Witch' (hereinafter 'White Witch').
Under this agreement, Neowiz secured the rights for PC and console package development as well as global publishing for 'White Witch.' The company plans to focus its development on recreating the story and atmosphere of the original game, leveraging its accumulated development and publishing capabilities in the console market.
'White Witch' is the third entry in Nihon Falcom's RPG series 'The Legend of Heroes,' originally released in 1994. It is also the first title in 'The Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy,' which connects the third through fifth installments into a single shared universe.
Known as a "poetry RPG," the game reduces combat and puzzle elements to focus on narrative progression. Its defining features include detailed depictions of character actions while traversing the map, NPC dialogue that changes as the story advances, and emotional direction using music during key scenes.
A representative from Neowiz stated, "'White Witch' is a title cherished by RPG fans around the world for over 30 years," adding, "We will present a level of polish that delivers the same emotional impact players felt back then, while also immersing gamers who are experiencing it for the first time." The representative further added, "We hope this agreement serves as an opportunity to build a long-term partnership with Nihon Falcom."
Nihon Falcom is a Japanese game developer established in 1981. Its flagship franchises include the 'Trails' series, 'Ys,' 'Tokyo Xanadu,' and 'Kyoto Xanadu -the Blooming Phantom-,' with cumulative sales for the 'Trails' series exceeding 10 million copies.
