On the 15th, in Group D of the Google Play ASL Season 22 Round of 16 held at FreecUP Studio in Daechi-dong, Seoul, 'Typhoon Zerg' Lee Young-han defied all expectations by advancing to the quarterfinals in 1st place.

Kim Jae-hyun produced a large number of Marines in anticipation of Jang Yoon-chul's Zealot and Dragoon pressure. As both players secured their rear expansions, Kim Jae-hyun attempted the first poke with Vultures, Siege Tanks, and Marines, but failed to achieve much. Instead, Jang Yoon-chul brought out a Reaver to invade the Terran main base, inflicting massive damage. With the deployed Terran forces caught out of position, Jang Yoon-chul easily won Game 1.
In Game 2, both Kim Jeong-woo and Lee Young-han played with fast Zerglings. However, Lee Young-han fielded a larger Zergling count for a timing attack, breaking all the way into Kim Jeong-woo's rear expansion to destroy the Hatchery and secure a quick victory.
In the following winner's match, Set 1 was played on Octagon. Lee Young-han went Pool first and expanded his Hatcheries, opting for Hydralisks over an early Lair. Jang Yoon-chul spotted the Hydralisks with a Probe and constructed multiple Photon Cannons. Even with his intentions revealed, Lee Young-han continued producing Hydralisks to destroy Protoss's choke Gateway and Forge. He then built numerous Drones to catch up in tech.
He then produced Mutalisks to invade the Protoss main base. Although he picked off two High Templar, his forces suffered heavy damage from Psionic Storm and Corsairs. However, with his resource harvesting left completely intact, Lee Young-han took up key positions with a massive force of Hydralisks while also producing Lurkers. Jang Yoon-chul struggled to break through Lee Young-han's Lurker line, and Lee Young-han, now equipped with Defilers, destroyed the Protoss expansion at 9 o'clock. Completely controlling the map and expanding aggressively, Lee Young-han outplayed Jang Yoon-chul macro-wise to take Set 1.
In Set 2, both players opted for quick natural expansions, getting off to a greedy start. Protoss in particular took the greediest route, building a Cybernetics Core before a Photon Cannon following the Nexus. Lee Young-han prepared a Zergling and Lurker all-in off a 2-Hatchery Lair. Jang Yoon-chul scouted the all-in intent with a Corsair and built multiple Cannons, but the Lurker timing was too swift. With a flawless timing attack, Lee Young-han defeated the heavyweight Jang Yoon-chul 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals in 1st place.
