Hayeon, who recently arrived in Seven Knights Re:BIRTH, is a Support-type hero. While she isn't a direct damage dealer who defeats opponents herself, she excels at keeping allies alive and delaying enemy actions. Based on her skillset, she is utilized not only in defense decks but also in physical offense and magic decks, making her a versatile supporter unrestricted to any single composition.

Her passive skill, Penitent of the Abyss, grants Cover and self-Fortitude. When Cover triggers, an ally's basic attack is added to Hayeon's basic attack. Upon triggering Fortitude, she swaps HP with the enemy with the highest HP while inflicting Recovery Invalidation and Buff Block. This design provides a safety net while placing heavy pressure on opponents. On top of that, she possesses Ally Role Support, which increases composition flexibility and enhances her utility across various team builds.

Her Skill 1, Guigyeolbak, strips enemy buffs while aiming for Bleed, Paralysis, and turn-based debuff extension. Paralysis prevents enemy actions while locking their Block Rate at 0%, which aids follow-up attacks. Her Skill 2, Bongweolmun, cleanses debuffs from allies while providing Continuous Recovery, Damage Immunity, and turn-based buff extension. While turn extensions cannot exceed the effect's original max turn cap—meaning efficiency varies depending on timing—it remains a useful option. In short, Skill 1 applies pressure to enemies, while Skill 2 focuses on supporting allies.

Her Awakening Skill, Bongcheonmun, is equally impactful. It reduces ally skill cooldowns by 20 seconds, increases enemy skill cooldowns by 24 seconds, and applies Buff Block. Since this effect can completely turn the tide of an unfavorable battle, keeping Hayeon alive until she can cast her Awakening Skill is crucial.

Hayeon's primary showcase is PvP content. You can easily encounter Hayeon across all player-versus-player modes, including Arena, Total War, and Guild War. As previously mentioned, the team compositions using her are incredibly diverse; while many initially speculated she would be built primarily for defense decks, various other experiments are currently underway.

For physical offense decks, she serves as a valuable pick in offense mirror matches. In matchups where Seonran advantage is vital, her 6-Transcendence effect—reducing the Attack of enemy Offensive and Magic-type heroes—provides a huge boost. As for magic decks, while interest started relatively late, their synergy with Hayeon is gaining renewed attention alongside standout cards like Yungeon and Dongyeong. Recently, rather than focusing solely on Speed Attack, players are utilizing Hayeon's utility to build a sturdier foundation.

Hayeon also reinforces the stability of defense decks. Particularly in Total War, defense decks struggled to secure win rates in recent seasons. However, leveraging her healing, shield, and debuff cleanse capabilities, defense decks are recovering their solid durability. Regardless of which setup she enters, her Awakening Skill's ability to create game-changing variables remains potent. In fact, if asked which team she fits best into, defense decks still seem to take the crown.

In 3v3 Guild War content, her versatility shines as she is deployed alongside Dellons and Seonran, or paired with Yungeon and Yeonhee as needed. Beyond PvP, Hayeon's support capabilities easily carry more than her own weight in PvE content such as Adventure stages.

Seonran supports the team across several compositions. Early on, a team pairing Yungeon and Seonran with physical offense components Karl Heron and Orca received main attention. Seonran and Yungeon handled the offense while Hayeon supported from behind, with Orca and Karl Heron functioning virtually as totems. Hayeon's turn-based buff extension synergizes remarkably well with Seonran as well. Although Yungeon cannot receive the 3 Magic-type hero bonus in this lineup, he is still selected due to his otherwise outstanding kit.

Magic decks build around Yungeon, Dongyeong, and Hayeon, mixing in Yeonhee, O'Mok, Melkir, Skuld, or Reginleif. The setup of Yungeon, Dongyeong, Hayeon, O'Mok, and Skuld is the standard, most common composition, with Yeonhee or Seonran deployed depending on needs. In that scenario, Seonran and Yeonhee enter as O'Mok and Skuld step out. Hayeon contributes by enabling the magic deck's potent firepower to persist.

In defense decks, a team of Hayeon, Clemis, Rudy, Pallanus, and Lina has been spotted in Arena. This composition, bringing Lina back into the starting defense lineup after a long time, heavily emphasizes Effect Resistance. Moving over to Total War, Lina, Rudy, and Clemis step out while Radgrid, Gelidus, and Aris step in, prioritizing a Universal-type setup. Naturally, this composition can also be utilized in Arena.

Hayeon's equipment builds are primarily centered around the Paladin set. The most critical factor appears to be survival capability. As a Support-type hero by nature, securing stability is the top priority. As long as Hayeon stays alive, she can assist her team in various ways. Stacking HP through the Paladin set options also enhances the shields and healing she provides.

For defense decks, a 4-piece Paladin set stacking Max HP and Damage Reduction is a reliable standard. From there, options branch into focusing sub-stats on Block Rate or Effect Resistance. Depending on the team's strategic direction, players may choose Effect Resistance for one piece of armor. While Paladin is generally recommended for physical offense and magic decks as well, the Gatekeeper set is another strong candidate if you prefer easily building Block Rate.

Another factor to consider is Effect Hit Rate builds. Paralysis, which restricts enemy actions and locks their Block Rate at 0%, is another fantastic ability of Hayeon's. To ensure Paralysis lands as reliably as possible, you can maximize sub-stats or equip Effect Hit Rate on one weapon. As for exclusive gear, Elasticity—which specializes in survival—is the best fit.

We've taken a look at Hayeon, who is currently driving the meta. If you plan to pivot across various team compositions based on the meta and focus on Total War, reaching 6-Transcendence is ideal. The 6-Transcendence effect—reducing Attack for enemy Offensive and Magic-type heroes, and reducing Defense by 24% for Defensive, Support, and Universal-type heroes—dramatically elevates Hayeon's versatility. However, there's no need to rush, as Hayeon's pickup banner runs for 4 weeks. Given her vast array of utility, she is likely to hold a firm spot in the meta for a while, so securing as many Transcendence stages as possible during the banner period is highly recommended.
