CD Projekt Red has revealed details for the remastered version of 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' and its new expansion, 'Songs of the Past'. The remastered version will launch on September 29, while the third expansion, Songs of the Past, will be revealed in 2027.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The remastered version will launch on PC, PS5, and XSX|S, with existing game owners eligible for a free upgrade. A native version of The Witcher 3 Remastered will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day. Additionally, owners of the base game will receive the previous expansions, 'Hearts of Stone' and 'Blood and Wine', for free.
This remaster brings overall gameplay improvements alongside graphic and performance enhancements. Features include upgraded graphics and combat, improved movement and traversal, new Witcher sign effects, revamped mount controls, and enhanced monster behavior.
The skill tree is also revamped, with new additions including a transmogrification feature to alter equipment appearances, an expanded photo mode, and new execution animations. Through these updates, Geralt's entire adventure is modernized.
Information on The Witcher 3's new expansion, Songs of the Past, was also unveiled during ONL. Scheduled for release in 2027, this expansion is set in Letten, a new region that did not appear in the original game.
Letten is an idyllic region of bountiful harvests and grand festivals, deeply rooted in rural traditions and folklore. Despite its peaceful appearance, a dark secret lies hidden beneath, forcing Geralt to confront an evil long dormant.
The expansion introduces previously unseen enemies alongside new abilities. Notably, a chain appears as a new weapon for Geralt to use. Returning characters will also feature, with player choices and consequences forming a key part of the story.
Meanwhile, a collaboration with Blizzard is also underway. The Witcher 3 Remastered and Songs of the Past will also be serviced through Battle.net, and purchasing the expansion on Battle.net will provide a special Geralt-themed skin for use in Diablo IV. Further details will be announced at BlizzCon in September.
Songs of the Past will launch in 2027 on PC, PS5, XSX|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
