On Dec. 15, Fnatic announced that they have acquired Martin “Rekkles” Larsson for the 2023 season. Along with the announcement of the return of Rekkles, Fnatic also announced that support Rúben "Rhuckz" Barbosa has been promoted to the main LEC team. Gonçalo "Crusher" Brandão has also been promoted from the academy team and will serve as the head coach, and Aleksi "Hiiva" Kaikkonen will be the assistant coach.

Rekkles will be returning to his old team in two years. After 2020, Rekkles left Fnatic to play for G2 Esports. After playing for G2 Esports in 2021, he joined Karmine Corp and played in the LFL in 2022.

In 2022, Fnatic finished 3rd in both the spring and summer seasons. They reached Worlds for the sixth consecutive time and 10 times overall. However, they were eliminated in the group stage with a 2-4 record.

Prior to the 2023 season, Fnatic will be playing a showmatch to feature their new roster against KOI on Dec. 16.
