100 Thieves reverse sweep Team Liquid to qualify for finals of 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs

100 Thieves have qualified for the finals of the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs as a result of their 3-2 win over Team Liquid. Team Liquid will be sent to the lower part of the post-season bracket to play the winner of Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses, who play tomorrow, to see who meet 100 Thieves in the finals of the LCS Spring Playoffs.

As the 1st seed, Team Liquid began the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs in the upper bracket against 4th seed Evil Geniuses. TL won the series against EG, which is what many expected them to accomplish, but EG pushed TL to five games in a far more contentious match what was predicted coming into the series.

100 Thieves, on the other hand, came into their first series in the post-season as the 3rd seed against 2nd seed Cloud9. However, despite the closeness of both seeds, 100 Thieves annihilated Cloud9 in a 3-0 sweep and sent C9 to the lower bracket.

At first, the series looked heavily in favor of Team Liquid, who won the first two games in convincing fashion to push 100 Thieves to match point. Contrary to expectations, however, 100 Thieves stormed back to force a game five after two convincing wins in game 3 and 4.

It would be expected for 100 Thieves to ride a 2-win streak into enough momentum to win the fifth and final game of the series, but that could not be further from the truth. TL kept a step ahead of a resilient 100 Thieves for the majority of game 5, but after 100 was able to open up the TL nexus, a fight a few minutes later around the dragon pit allowed 100 mid laner Felix "Abbedagge" Braun to backdoor the nexus on Twisted Fate for the game win and the series win along with it.
