Four starters and one coach from T1 test positive for COVID-19 one day after winning 2022 LCK Spring

One day after T1 won the finals of the 2022 LCK Spring Playoffs 3-1 against Gen.G, four starters and one coach from the championship roster have tested positive for COVID-19.

T1 top laner Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, jungler Moon "Oner" Hyeon-joon, mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, support Ryu "Keria" Min-seok, and coach Kim "moment" Ji-hwan tested positive for COVID-19, while tests for AD carry Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, substitute support Kim "Asper" Tae-gi, coach Bae "Bengi" Seong-woong, and head coach/general manager Choi "Polt" Seong-hun came back negative.

This implies that the reason members of T1 weren't feeling their best during the finals against Gen.G is because of succumbing to COVID-19, despite the relatively convincing victory by a 3-1 scoreline. Oner, who was named the MVP of the series, apparently only slept one hour before the finals match against Gen.G.

It is unknown whether anyone else has tested positive for COVID-19 as a result of contact with the T1 organization, but due to the strict regulations within the LCK arena and LoL Park, it is relatively unlikely. Since T1 won the finals of the 2022 LCK Spring Playoffs, they will be the South Korean representative at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational, but whether the team's COVID-19 cases will affect their preparation for the event is currently unknown.

This is not the first team competing in the 2022 LCK season who has had their roster afflicted by the Coronavirus.

As recently as the final week of the Spring Split just last month, Fredit BRION was forced to play their Academy roster due to COVID-19 cases on the main roster, and after members of the Academy roster also tested positive, the organization was forced to forfeit one of their matches while in tight contention for post-season qualification.
