On the 21st, in the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split, Gen.G defeated T1 2-1 and Fredit BRION surprised the world by taking down the world champions, DWG KIA.
In the first game between Gen.G and T1, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong’s Aphelios displayed superhuman powers. Gumayusi took a massive lead from early in the game and blew up Gen.G in teamfights. All of Gen.G’s attempts were denied by Gumaysi’s Aphelios and T1 took the game.
Starting from the second game, Gen.G made changes in the draft. They drafted Kalista and Jarvan IV in their bot lane. As they intended, the laning went in their favor from very early in the game. Gumayusi and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok tried an early trade, but were countered right away. From that point, Gen.G’s bot duo took charge of the game for the win.
Game 3 wasn’t much different from game 2. Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk and Kim “Life” Jeong-min took priority in lane and started to snowball. T1 tried to turn the game through macro, but a few misplays from T1 made them forfeit their Nexus.
Fredit BRION who had no wins in the first week threw a great punch. They defeated the world champions, DWG KIA 2-0. Kim “Lava” Tae-hoon hadn’t been performing very well up to now, but he carried the game today and even was awarded the Player of the Game for game 1. The Orianna’s ultimates that hit in the teamfights were very impressive.
Their performance in game 2 wasn’t that different. They had a fierce matchup in the mid-jungle and took the lead by aggressive Baron attempts and teamfights. There were a few mistakes during the mid game, but they reorganized quickly and moved actively. Through this, Fredit BRION made a miracle of sweeping the world champions.
