IGEC 2020 Day 1 Recap — Panels, Pitches & More!

 

The second day of the 2020 Inven Global Esports Conference is less than an hour away, but before things get started, let's take a look at everything that happened on day one of the very first digital IGEC.

 

 

 

IGEC 2020 kicked off at 9:00am PT with the ‘Getting Over the Next Hurdle in your Esports Career’ panel where moderator Nick D’Orazio was joined by panelists Gene Chorba, Kevin “Kebunbun” Hoang, and Wade “Dreadnaught” Penfold. ‘The Do's and Don'ts of Health and Wellness in Esports’ panel followed at 9:45am PT, which was moderated by Kelsey Remige and featured panelists Matt Hwu, Weldon Green, John Kim, and David Amirrezvani.

 

At 10:45am PT, Lara Lunardi moderated a conversation between Laure "Bulii" Valée, Gaylen Malone, Joy Chao, and Sharon Winter on the panel ‘A Discussion Leading Innovation in Esports.’ Nick D’Orazio returned to moderate the last panel before lunch, ‘4 Things That Need to Change about the Esports Industry,’ which featured Danny Martin, Ben Goldhaber, and Norris Howard.

 

After lunch, day 1 of IGEC 2020 resumed at 1:00pm PT with ‘Running on Empty: Discussing how esports organizations can make the most of their funds’ which was moderated by Kelsey Remige and featured panelists Barry Lee, Harris Peskin, and Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles. At 2:00pm PT, the IGEC 2020 Keynote, titled ‘ Survival, Evolution, Sustainability’ featured guest moderator Jacob Wolf and Joe Marsh as speaker.

 

‘Unpacking the Mysteries of Esports Revenue Streams’ followed at 3:00pm PT with moderator Nick D’Orazio and panelists Lee Massie and Josh Chapman. Joe Marsh returned as a panelist on the ‘Out of the Box: How Riot's Unique Strategy Positions Themselves for a Competitive Gaming Takeover’ panel, where Kelsey Remige facilitated a discussion surrounding Riot Games’ newest title VALORANT between Marsh and fellow panelists Kasra Jafroodi and Matt Archambault.

 

A change of pace took place at 4:45pm PT with the ‘Pitch Panel’ which featured Rebecca Dixon and Nick Bucheleres pitching their companies to moderator Nick D’Orazio. The day closed out with moderator Parkes Ousley and speaker Yae-won Jin for the last panel ‘Insights into LCK Global Production.’
