[LCK Today] DAMWON Gaming bring down T1, Griffin and Hanwha Life Esports escape from long losing streak

On the 5th of April (KST), in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Spring Split, all the lower-ranked teams took the win. DAMWON Gaming defeated T1 2-0 while Griffin and Hanwha Life Esports broke their losing streaks against APK Prince and Afreeca Freecs.

DAMWON Gaming was unstoppable. In Game 1, Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon blasted the top lane. By picking Jayce, Nuguri didn’t even let his opponent, Kim “Canna” Chang-dong breathe. Nuguri had two solo kills on Canna. Not only Nuguri showed good performances, but all the other DAMWON players seemed to have recovered their performances. Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee had stellar performances on Corki and Maokai, respectively, in Game 2. As of this match, T1 stepped down from 1st as DAMWON Gaming advanced to 4th place.

Griffin finally succeeded to break their long 10-game losing streak. Although both Griffin and APK Prince’s weren’t at their best, Griffin’s main damage dealers delivered better performances. Although APK mid laner Kim “Cover” Joo-eon resisted well, he lacked stability while Griffin bot laner Park “Viper” Do-hyeon stood like a pillar for Griffin. With a 2-1 victory, Griffin climbed out of their long losing streak.

Hanwha Life Esports had a great game. They didn’t step back in fights and made super plays in every crucial situation. The performance of mid laner Kang “Tempt” Myeong-gu was especially great. Playing Zoe in both games, Tempt’s Sleepy Trouble Bubbles and Paddle Stars connected shot after shot. Top laner Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin also showed that he was still who he is. With Gnar and Sett, CuVee fought with Kim “Kiin” Gi-in fiercely and contributed massively to his team’s victory. Afreeca Freecs fell to a 6-game losing streak.
