Onimusha: Path of the Sword has moved its release date up by three weeks, shifting from September 25 to September 4.
Capcom announced the new September 4 release date on its official website on the 2nd. The company explained that the date was moved up to bring the title to players sooner.
As a result, pre-order bonuses for the digital version of Onimusha: Path of the Sword will now be offered as early-purchase bonuses. The distribution period for the PS5, XSX|S, Windows, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions runs until 23:59 on September 24, while the Steam and Epic Games Store versions will be available until 08:59 on September 26. For the Nintendo Switch 2 version, pre-orders for the digital version will be automatically canceled due to the change in release date.
Save data bonuses from the demo version are also available. To receive these, players must keep the downloaded demo and its save data until the full game launches. An update will be applied to the currently available demo, but this is only to accommodate the change in release date and will not include additional content.
"Capcom stated, "We ask for your continued interest in the news we will be sharing over the next two months leading up to the launch.""
The latest entry in the series, Onimusha: Path of the Sword, is set in Kyoto during the early Edo period and features sword-fighting action within a dark fantasy world. Players take on the role of Miyamoto Musashi, a warrior wearing the Gauntlet of the Oni, as they cut down Genma and walk a bloody path of the sword.
A free demo for Onimusha: Path of the Sword is currently available, and the full game will launch on September 4 for PC, PS5, XSX|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
