With the release date for the iconic Xbox action RPG 'Fable' confirmed for February 23, 2027, at the recent Summer Game Fest, news that the game will not support Korean subtitles has sparked growing frustration among domestic Xbox gamers. In response, members of the local Xbox community have launched a petition on 'Player Voice,' Xbox's official feedback platform, to request Korean language support.
This controversy is drawing particular attention because all previous titles in the Fable series supported Korean localization. Given that the series' predecessors were localized, many users who expected the reboot to follow suit are expressing significant disappointment.
This issue is linked to recent localization concerns regarding Xbox first-party titles. Following the 2023 release of 'Starfield,' the 2025 title 'Avowed' also faced criticism from domestic users for lacking Korean subtitles at launch. The situation with 'Avowed' was particularly contentious, as the game was initially slated to support Korean subtitles before they were abruptly removed prior to release. Although Microsoft announced that Korean subtitles would be added about a month after launch, months of silence followed, and the support was not implemented until five months later, drawing further ire.
Given these recent instances where Korean support for first-party titles was either omitted or deprioritized, it appears that domestic Xbox users waiting for 'Fable' have taken proactive steps to voice their concerns early.
Player Voice is an official community platform where Xbox users can submit feedback and participate in voting. Since the petition was posted three days ago, it has garnered significant attention, accumulating over 400 votes and more than 150 comments.
Microsoft previously stated that it would review high-priority feedback submitted through Player Voice and share progress updates. Consequently, domestic users are keenly watching to see if an official statement regarding Korean subtitle support for 'Fable' will be issued.
As this petition has emerged as one of the most significant topics in the domestic Xbox community since the official launch of Player Voice in May, all eyes are on how Microsoft will respond to the request.
