Riot Games has significantly overhauled its community tournament guidelines for League of Legends (LoL), introducing a single, unified framework that applies globally across all regions.

The most significant change in this update is the increased autonomy granted to organizers. The previous requirement for prior approval from Riot Games has been largely abolished; organizers can now freely host Internet cafe LAN tournaments, university tournaments, and online community events simply by submitting a simplified status form.

At the same time, key restrictions have been eased to improve the sustainability of these events. Previous caps on entry fees, sponsorship revenue, total prize pools, and spectator ticket prices have been removed, and limitations on the duration and number of participating schools for university and high school tournaments have also been lifted.

Tournament broadcasts can now be streamed freely on any online platform, and organizers are permitted to charge for viewing or set up pay-per-view options. However, broadcasting via traditional TV channels (linear TV) remains prohibited.

While organizers may use official LoL assets to promote their events, they are strictly prohibited from using official esports branding—such as Riot Games, LCK, or Worlds—in a way that could lead viewers to mistake the event for an official, sponsored tournament. Restrictions on sponsors from harmful sectors, including gambling, cryptocurrency and NFTs, alcohol, tobacco, and political organizations, remain in place.

Riot Games expressed optimism about expanding the grassroots esports ecosystem, stating, "By reducing the burden of approval for organizers, we plan to support promising community tournaments submitted through our forms with various benefits, including promotion and future reward programs."
