The LCK league office has updated its official and tournament-specific rulebooks ahead of the resumption of the 2026 regular season Round 3. The amendments were announced on June 29 and will take effect on July 29.
The most notable change allows for coaching staff role changes during the season. According to revised rule 2.3.2, teams may change roles mid-season—such as promoting a coach to head coach—subject to prior approval from the league office. In such cases, the team must meet the minimum salary requirements for the new role. The LCK minimum annual salaries (pre-tax) are ₩60 million for head coaches, ₩40 million for at least one additional coaching staff member, and ₩20 million for other coaching staff. This effectively mandates that if a coach is appointed as a permanent head coach mid-season, their compensation must be guaranteed at the head coach level.
Regarding match operations, a new clause (7.7.6) prohibits arbitrary position changes. Teams must compete in the positions submitted in advance and cannot arbitrarily swap positions during the pick-ban phase.
Trade-related clauses (3.2) have also been refined. Current rules allow the league office to deny approval for trades—even outside of restricted periods—if there are special circumstances, such as a player being included on an international tournament roster. If trade windows differ from those of an overseas league, the procedures agreed upon by both regional offices must be followed. The anti-detriment clause now specifies that non-guaranteed amounts, such as incentives and performance bonuses, are not included in the base salary subject to protection, and allows for exceptions where base salary and contract duration can be adjusted through mutual agreement between the player and the acquiring team.
Chronobreak and replay rules (8.3, 8.4) have been reorganized to reflect the global LoL Esports rulebook. Bugs are now classified into minor, critical, play-continuing, and pre-notified categories. Criteria such as 'dead ball state,' 'cost,' 'prompt notification,' and 'recorded game' have been defined to regulate the use of Chronobreak and replay procedures for each scenario.
Penalty procedures (10.2, 10.3) have also been clarified. The start date for suspensions or disqualifications is set as the earlier of two dates: 14 days after the written notice reaches the party, or the date the party provides written notice that they will not appeal. Parties receiving a penalty may appeal to the Esports Fairness Committee within 14 days of receipt, and the penalty will be stayed until the committee reaches a final decision. In the penalty index, dress code violations are now divided into 'before match or broadcast' and 'during match or broadcast,' and fines for sponsor-related violations during matches or broadcasts will be proportional to the damage incurred by the league or the profit gained by the team.
In the tournament-specific rulebook, the submission method for Right of First Selection (RoFS) has been changed. For the first set of regular rounds and Group battles, RoFS must be submitted via the system provided by the league office by 5:00 PM the day before the match, with the entry submission deadline at 5:30 PM on the same day. Between sets, notification must be given to the referee within 5 minutes of the Nexus destruction.
The head-to-head scoring method has been specified to align with the split-group system in the regular season Rounds 3 and 4. For Rounds 1 and 2, multipliers are based on the overall integrated ranking (1st–10th). For Rounds 3 and 4, multipliers for 1st–5th place are applied to the top group (Legend/Challenge), while multipliers for 6th–10th place are applied to the 1st–5th place within the bottom group (Rise/Trial).
The 'Coach Voice' system regulations have been updated to align with its introduction in the LCK CL. The revised appendix allows Coach Voice to be used only in specific leagues and rounds designated by the league office. Coach Voice can be used without restriction after the pick-ban phase, but will be immediately suspended if misconduct is discovered or suspected. If a coach leaves the designated Coach Voice area during a match, they cannot re-enter until that set concludes.
