- Three leading French contemporary music artists to headline the first-ever overseas EWC opening ceremony

The Esports Foundation (EF) has announced that Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Théodora will headline the opening ceremony of the 'Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC 2026),' taking place on July 8 at La Seine Musicale in Paris, France.

This performance marks the first time the EWC, the world's largest esports and gaming event, will be held outside its home country. The ceremony will celebrate modern French culture, shaped by live streaming platforms, creator-produced content, online communities, and immersive live experiences. EWC 2026 will kick off in Paris with a show that highlights contemporary French culture while connecting with the global digital generation at the heart of esports.

Mike McCabe, Deputy CEO and COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWF), stated, "The opening ceremony is a precious opportunity to welcome fans from around the world to the Esports World Cup. As we are hosting the EWC for the first time in Paris, we wanted to celebrate the city through artists who have contributed to shaping the music and culture of modern France." He added, "Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Théodora each possess unique charms, and bringing them together will showcase the creativity and influence that make Paris such a special host for this event."

Aya Nakamura, often called the 'Queen of France,' is one of the most influential French artists of her generation, having built a global fandom through her unique fusion of R&B, Afrobeats, zouk, and contemporary French pop. DJ Snake symbolizes France's global cultural influence; raised in the suburbs of Paris, he is one of the world's most successful DJs and producers. Théodora, recently dubbed 'Miss Kitoko,' has emerged as a rising star capturing the attention of a new generation.

EWC 2026 will be held in Paris, France, from July 6 to August 23, marking the first time the tournament has been held abroad in its history. More than 2000 players from over 100 countries and more than 200 clubs will compete across 24 games and 25 tournaments for a record-breaking total prize pool of over $75 million.
