Archetype Entertainment unveiled gameplay footage for its new title, 'Exodus,' at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase today (the 7th).
Archetype Entertainment is a studio comprised largely of veteran developers from BioWare, the creators of the Mass Effect series. Their upcoming sci-fi open world game, 'Exodus,' follows the protagonist, Jun Arslan, on a journey to stop 'The Rot,' a celestial virus that is destroying their home planet, Liden.

The 19-minute gameplay video for 'Exodus,' which served as the finale for the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, provided an overview of the overall gameplay experience. Players can customize the gender and appearance of the protagonist, Jun Arslan, and will meet and cooperate with unique companions such as the octopus-like 'Salt' and the genius scientist 'Fedra' throughout their journey. While carrying out space missions, players will face choices between two alignments: Paladin and Immortal. These choices influence NPC reactions, as well as the progression of the story and quests.
The video also introduced 'Time Dilation,' another core system in Exodus. In this system, decades can pass on a planet while the protagonist is away on a mission. Because the situation on each planet changes dramatically based on the player's choices, this mechanic serves as a major factor affecting the narrative and character relationships. The footage also highlighted gameplay elements such as using suit cloaking for stealth and assassinations, as well as combat scenes featuring various heavy weapons.

Following a battle with standard enemies, the video showcased a puzzle-solving sequence in alien ruins using the 'Lance,' a gauntlet modification, followed by a boss fight against a mechanical guardian. During the boss battle, the player uses a toggle-based command menu (activated by the LB button) to direct companions, neutralizing the boss through coordinated attacks before dealing damage. After the initial neutralization wears off, the player must use various gadgets, including the gauntlet, to take down the rampaging boss, offering a glimpse into the game's diverse playstyles.
Archetype Entertainment Game Director Chad Robertson stated during the Future Games Show that "the game is currently in the final stretch of development, and we plan to release information sequentially leading up to launch." 'Exodus' is scheduled for release in early 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
