Lineage Classic is hosting the 'Karif's Gem Research' event, where players can use their existing gems to obtain higher-grade gems or rare spellbooks. During the event, players can visit the gem researcher Karif, located at the 11 o'clock position in Giran Village square, to trade gems for pouches that contain random items.
There are three exchange options available: Karif's Pouch, Advanced Pouch, and Premium Pouch. Each requires a specific set of gems and Adena to trade for the corresponding pouch.

Karif's Pouch requires one of each of the four basic gems (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond) and 5k Adena. Opening it can yield various materials and consumables like Ent's Fruit or Mithril Ore, or even basic gems. If you are lucky, you might obtain higher-grade 'Advanced' gems, Asitazio's Ash, Spellbook (Greater Haste), or Spirit Crystal (Wind Walk).
The Advanced Pouch requires one of each of the four Advanced gems and 50k Adena. It offers larger quantities of materials like Ent's Fruit, and can yield Advanced or Premium gems. High-value rewards include Asitazio's Ash, Water Dragon Scale, Fire Dragon Scale, Spirit Crystal (Blood to Soul), and Spellbook (Holy Walk).
The final tier, the Premium Pouch, requires one of each of the four Premium gems and 500k Adena. As this is a high-end pouch, it does not contain minor materials; instead, it offers Premium gems, Armor/Weapon Enchant Scrolls (Zel/Day), and Blessed Enchant Scrolls. In addition to Asitazio's Ash and dragon scales, it can yield Spellbook (Cancellation), Spirit Crystal (Triple Arrow), and Technique Book (Shock Stun).

The Premium Pouch may seem attractive because it contains top-tier rewards like 'Shock Stun,' but it is not for everyone, as it requires significant materials and a large amount of Adena. In most cases, you will likely experience a 'miraculous' exchange rate where you trade four Premium gems and 500k Adena just to get one Premium gem back. Unless you have ample funds or are in a situation where you absolutely must secure Stun or Triple Arrow for clan wars, we do not recommend casual participation.
Furthermore, the drop rates for high-value spellbooks are extremely low. According to the in-game probability viewer, the acquisition rate for Cancellation, Triple Arrow, and Shock Stun is 0.5% each. Premium gems have a 10% chance each, and Enchant Scrolls have a 25% chance each, accounting for 90% of the total probability. In other words, it is highly likely that you will spend millions or tens of millions of Adena without ever seeing one of the rare spellbooks.
