G-STAR, Korea's largest game exhibition, is pushing to establish a global online new game showcase similar to Gamescom's 'Opening Night Live (ONL)' this year.

The Korea Game Industry Association recently proposed the operation of the 'G-STAR Online Showcase' as a new task. Directly citing Gamescom ONL, the Association set the goal of "planning a unique G-Star online showcase brand that aligns with global trends and establishing its identity." To this end, the Association significantly increased the budget for the online sector. The budget for online planning, operation, and promotion was increased by 150 million won, rising from 250 million won last year to 400 million won this year. Of this, 300 million won was allocated for "online showcase and broadcast video content production," which is double the amount allocated for the same category last year (150 million won). The Association requested presentation-style content based on pre-planning, rather than simple live broadcasts. The plan is to build a new game announcement pipeline to grow the official G-Star channel into a platform for revealing new titles, and to develop it into a "global content hub." The proposals also included plans for multilingual broadcasting that allows both on-site audiences and global viewers to immerse themselves simultaneously, as well as plans to recruit presenters with expertise in the game industry. Meanwhile, G-Star 2026 will be held at BEXCO in Busan from Thursday, November 19 to Sunday, November 22.
