GEN Doran: "It feels it's only been a couple of days since my debut in Griffin, so it’s amazing how I already played 300 games."

On Aug 10, in the 2022 LCK Summer Split match between Fredit BRION and Gen.G, Gen.G took the 2-0 win. With the win, Gen.G secured 1st place for the regular season. Although it was a sweep, the games were quite close, and the Players of the Games carried a key role in the wins. The Players of the Games were Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon and Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, and they joined Yoon Su-bin for a post-match POG interview.

Congrats on the win. With today’s win, you’ve secured 1st place for the regular season. How do you feel?

Chovy: I’m happy that we secured 1st place by winning 2-0 today.

Game 1 was Doran’s 300th LCK game. How do you feel?

Doran: It feels it's only been a couple of days since my debut in Griffin, so it’s amazing how I already played 300 games. It makes me feel that I’ve aged. I’d like to keep winning.

Unlike what the score suggests, it wasn’t that one-sided. How was the game?

Chovy: Fredit BRION did well in the early game while we underperformed, so the flow of the game went their way. We need to fix that.

(To Doran) You had a great performance at the fight around the fourth dragon. Did you think you’d get voted as the POG?

Doran: I thought Ruler would get it. When I was announced as the Player of the Game, I was really happy.

You played on the 12.14 patch starting from today. How did the potion nerf affect the laning phase?

Doran: It didn’t really matter as the one that’s hitting, but on the other side, it’s quite difficult because of the patch.

Chovy: I’m not so happy about the potions getting nerfed, but it doesn’t really matter. However, since the runes were changed as well, it’s harder to endure.

The dragons were changed as well. The effect was increased, so it seems that they’ve become more important. What does Gen.G think?

Chovy: It feels that Peanut is focusing more on the dragons.

Doran: The effect increased, but they became harder to kill. I think there can be more diverse plays while fighting for the dragon.

(To Chovy) You had a phenomenal performance on Ahri in game 2, and now, you’re 14-0 playing her. Were you confident that you’d do that well?

Chovy: Frankly, I thought it’d be difficult from the draft. I just thought that we’d win if we do well and lose if we don’t.

Isn’t it hard playing against Viktor? How was it laning against Viktor?

Chovy: It was a hard matchup already, but it became harder with the 12.14 patch. How the game goes usually depends on luck. I thought we would get the kill in the Lv. 3 gank, but it’s regretful that we didn’t. It gets a bit easier if I get supported by the jungle like that, and since Doran came down to help, it was alright.

Doran: Since Ornn endured so well, I didn’t have much to do, so I went over to help out.

You’ve secured 1st place with today’s win. If you defeat KT Rolster 2-0 in your next match, Gen.G will record the highest-ever game score.

Doran: It’ll be great to set a new record, but since it’s the last match of the season, I want to have a clean performance.

Chovy: The last game is important in several ways, but since there are so many matches after that, it’ll be more important to finish with a good performance.
