GAMEPIA, in collaboration with Electronic Arts (EA), will begin pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition of Split Fiction—a two-player co-op adventure game developed by Hazelight—on September 30. Pre-orders will run through October 14, with the official domestic release date set for October 15, 2026.
Split Fiction follows contrasting authors Mio and Zoe as they find themselves trapped inside stories of their own creation. To escape, the two protagonists must cooperate, master various abilities, and navigate through challenges across sci-fi and fantasy worlds.
The game is built around two-player split-screen gameplay. Both players must synchronize their actions and timing while utilizing new mechanics and abilities. Using the 'Friend's Pass', players can invite another player on supported platforms to play together. To use it, installation of the 'Friend's Pass', a stable internet connection, and an account for the applicable platform are required, with one player needing to own the full game.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version will support the 'GameChat' and 'GameShare' features. 'GameChat' provides real-time voice chat and video calls, and displays a live camera feed alongside the location indicator UI when shown.
With 'GameShare', players can engage in local co-op play across two separate Nintendo Switch 2 consoles using a single copy of the game. It also supports cross-generational local play with first-generation Nintendo Switch consoles.
The genre of Split Fiction is adventure, and it is rated for ages 15 and up. The game supports audio in English and 6 other languages, as well as subtitles in Korean and 9 other languages.
