[LCK Today] Gen.G defeats T1 for the first time since 2018, kt Rolster stops SANDBOX Gaming's YamatoMagic

On July 18th (KST), in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Split, kt Rolster faced SANDBOX Gaming and T1 played Gen.G.

In the first match, KT had a great showcase with Park “TusiN” Jong-ik returning to the roster after sitting out a week from being sick. They brought out a poking composition in the first game with Zoe, Jayce, and Varus. Starting with the first blood, KT collected first turret and the dragon. With their poking comp, KT pushed their opponents and snowballed steadily. It was a rather slow game, having only a total of three kills by the time they were matching up for the Elder Dragon. Again, KT's poked their enemies away and slew the Elder Dragon. After collecting the Baron buff as well, KT closed the game in 36 minutes.

KT maintained their momentum in the second game as well. Kim "bonO" Gi-beom's Lee Sin effectively stole camps from Kim "OnFleek" Jang-gyeom's Trundle while KT's bot duo took a lot of turret plate gold. KT continued to take benefits in skirmishes and won a dragon teamfight. With a 5K global gold lead, KT was extremely confident in fights. The dragon soul again went to KT and they simply crushed SANDBOX Gaming with strength. With this victory, KT collected their fourth win, stopping SANDBOX Gaming's 4-game winning streak.

Game 1 of T1 and Gen.G started with the latest first blood of the season at post-15-minutes as Gen.G killed Kim “Canna” Chang-dong’s Karma behind the second bottom turret. T1 struck back in a dragon fight as they collected four kills while giving up only one. However, in the following dragon fight, Gen.G took their third dragon stack as well as winning the teamfight. Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk’s Ezreal collected four kills and scaled massively. Afterward, it was Ruler all the way. As Kim “Life” Jeong-min stole the dragon to take the Infernal Dragon soul, Gen.G went straight ahead to destroy T1’s Nexus. Ruler collected a quadra kill to close the game.

Gen.G claimed the initiative through their strong laning in game 2. Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong's Zoe had a massive share on teamfights and Gen.G was able to take a good lead. T1 still had their final hope: Park "Teddy" Jin-seong's Ezreal. Thinking back on his days in Jin Air Green Wings, Teddy started to collect kills and scale. At the fourth dragon, T1 had a good teamfight, isolating three of Gen.G's members including Ruler's Kalista and Bdd's Zoe. However, Kalista managed to survive until Kim "Rascal" Kwang-hee's Ornn rejoined the fight through Teleport and that concluded the game. Gen.G won against T1 for the first time since 2018.
