[LCK Today] With KT and Afreeca victorious in their respective matches, the middle of the pack looks to be more chaotic than ever

On the 29th (KST), in Day 19 of the 2020 LCK Spring split, KT Rolster dominated Hanwha Life Esports to extend their win streak to 3 matches, and Afreeca Freecs defeated DAMWON Gaming to defend their spot as the 4th place team in the standings. With tonight’s results, the battle in the middle of the standings looks to be more chaotic.

KT took the victory in a very clean fashion. With an early gank from Kim “Bono” Gi-beom’s Jarvan in the bot lane, Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram’s Ezreal was able to scale quickly. Not only did KT’s bot lane have priority during the laning phase, he was able to deal tons of damage and properly pull enemy aggro. Game 1 was all about Aiming’s Ezreal.

There was a huge bot lane difference in game 2 as well. KT drafted the gold-sharing Senna-Volibear in the bot lane. With KT’s bot lane gaining priority, they were able to snowball it into victory. Park “TusiN” Jong-ik was able to scale as much as a solo lane Volibear, where he was even able to split push and dominate HLE.

The 4th and the 5th place teams, AF and DWG faced off against one another. Heo “ShowMaker” Su was able to properly spread his wings in game 1. Despite playing Syndra into Ekko, a matchup that’s traditionally disadvantageous to Syndra, ShowMaker was successfully able to dominate his lane opponent, Song “Fly” Yong-jun. He showed much proactivity around Summoner’s Rift, and the game was carried by DWG’s mid and bot lane.

In game 2, although DWG tried to be creative by drafting Quinn in the top lane and Sett-Yuumi in the bot lane, they were unsuccessful in taking the victory. Despite the great early showing by DWG, they made many mistakes in the mid game, and were unable to recover from it. With time, Kim “Kiin” Gi-in’s Kayle was able to scale hard into the late game and was able to carry his team to victory.

With momentum on AF’s side, they showed much focus in game 3 as well. The bot lane dive was the decisive point in the game, where Kiin and Lee “Spirit” Da-yoon set their bot lane far ahead. Despite ShowMaker shining in teamfights, it was not enough. After trading many blows with one another, AF was able to reverse sweep the series.
