The rumors are true: G2 Esports will be swapping roles once again before the start of the season. Luka "Perkz"  Perković will return to his original position of Mid Lane, and Rasmus "Caps" Winter will make his debut as an AD Carry on the opening day of the 2020 LEC Spring Split.

G2 originally teased the role swap in multiple ways through social media, and Jankos also spoke about the reason behind the supposed swap on stream. However, the playful nature of the organization suggested that it could not be serious and that the starting roster would remain the same.

On January 16, ESPN Esports’ Jacob Wolf confirmed the role swap of Caps and Perkz after speaking with G2 Founder, Owner, & CEO Carlos “Ocelote” Rodríguez Santiago. "Last year we completely changed the game in regards to what is played bot lane," Ocelote said to Wolf . "This year, I think we can change the game by what is played and who goes where. This game and honestly, I take no credit here, is to the players' credit at how League of Legends is played.

I think if this team keeps together and stays motivated to be together, we will see every single year that the game becomes more and more loose and there are no roles. Everyone goes everywhere and it's chaos. Controlled chaos."

Ocelote also said that both players would be open to returning to their original roles in the Summer Split should the swap fall flat, but should it work as brilliantly as G2’s last swap of Perkz and Caps, Europe might have its world champion.
