Gen.G Esports secured a 2-0 victory against kt Rolster in the Legend Group of the 2026 LoL Champions Korea (LCK) regular season Round 3, held at LoL PARK in Jongno on the 7th. They displayed truly overwhelming performance, achieving a perfect game in the first set and closing out the second set in just 25 minutes with a 10k gold lead.
'Ruler' Park Jae-hyuk was named Player of the Match (POM) for his stellar performance on Kog'Maw in the first set and Ezreal in the second. He gave kt Rolster's rookie ranged damage dealer 'Fenrir' Park Gang-jun a harsh welcome to the league. In his post-match interview, 'Ruler' expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, saying, "It feels even better to be on a winning streak because we won with the kind of performance we show when we are at our best."
After a losing streak in the opening week, Gen.G has successfully turned the tide with consecutive wins against Hanwha Life Esports and kt Rolster. 'Ruler' shared, "Internally, we had a lot of discussions about how to improve on the areas where we were struggling. Of course, there were still some minor mistakes today, but I think they were minimal. We are gradually fixing our issues, and I believe our performance is improving as a result."
Regarding the perfect game in the first set, he explained, "Since both sides picked sensitive bot lane champions, we talked a lot about how to manage the early laning phase and how to avoid giving up variables once we gained an advantage. I practiced a lot with 'Duro' on how to handle these delicate bot lane matchups and how to recover if the laning phase goes poorly. Thanks to that, our synergy was great in the actual match."
The second set featured a Ezreal-Leona versus Kai'Sa-Nautilus matchup. When asked what he considered important, 'Ruler' replied, "Basically, Ezreal has a higher laning tier than Kai'Sa, so I think the game's flow depends on how Ezreal plays the laning phase. It didn't go exactly as planned early on, but I think we managed it well despite the rough start. We kept the initiative and carried it through to the win."
When asked about the secret to winning two consecutive POM awards, 'Ruler' said, "Honestly, I'm not sure. I feel like I'm just quietly doing what I've always done, though perhaps many people thought my form wasn't great before. Regardless, I've been putting in a lot of effort to perform better than I did in the past."
Gen.G's next opponent is Hanwha Life, whom they recently defeated. Expressing confidence in extending their winning streak to three, 'Ruler' concluded, "In the world of competition, you can lose at any time, even if you say you're confident. I will prepare as much as possible to ensure we don't lose."
