Nexon's global looter shooter 'The First Descendant' has announced a massive update to mark its second anniversary, promising to significantly expand the player experience. During the 'Descendant Fest 2026' anniversary livestream on YouTube and Chzzk, General Producer Beom-jun Lee, Director Ju-min-seok, and Community Manager Lee Jun-gu introduced major new content, including △Season 4 'The Great Clash,' △a roadmap for new content in the second half of the year, and △anniversary events.
The development team also held a candid discussion with key community creators, covering the game's current state and future direction. Based on pre-collected player feedback, the team addressed major topics such as content, Inheritors, and weapons, with subject-matter experts participating as panelists to ensure in-depth and transparent communication.
'The Great Clash' and 'Mega Dungeon' Content

Season 4, which kicks off on August 20, lives up to its 'The Great Clash' subtitle by delivering a narrative of unprecedented scale. The story follows the Inheritors as they infiltrate a massive Vulgus warship that has appeared above Albion, finally bringing the long-standing conflict with the main villain, Karel, to its climax.
The final showdown with Karel will be implemented through the newly introduced 'Mega Dungeon' content. Designed to prioritize narrative immersion and dramatic presentation over repetitive gameplay, the Mega Dungeon offers a unique storytelling experience characteristic of the looter shooter genre. Two weeks after the launch of the Mega Dungeon, a limited-time 'Conquest' event will be held at the highest difficulty level. This event will challenge top-tier players by offering exclusive honorary rewards for the first clear, as well as special prestige rewards for those who successfully place on the leaderboard.
'Intercept Battle Extreme Mode' and '11 New Transcendence Weapons'

In August, the 'Trial Mode' will be added, allowing players to experience an extreme power fantasy by continuously growing their character through various combat choices. In December, a 3v3 asymmetric PvEvP mode called 'Colosseum-A' will be introduced. In this mode, players can transform into the giant boss 'Colossus' to invade the opposing team's field and turn the tide of battle, offering a new, strategic, and unpredictable type of fun.
The item farming system is also being significantly expanded. On August 20, 11 new 'Transcendence Weapons' will be introduced, featuring a 'quality' system for the first time to provide a new long-term farming goal. Notably, a system that guarantees a minimum quality threshold as players continue to farm will be implemented to reduce the fatigue of repetition and maximize the sense of progression. Starting in September, a 'Lounge Warehouse Trading' system will allow players to trade 'Arche Modules' and 'Transcendence Weapons' remotely, further reducing farming fatigue and increasing the convenience of item acquisition.
To add variety to the farming experience, new top-tier dungeons will be introduced sequentially: 'Cradle of Evolution' in September and 'Henosis Sanctuary' in November. These dungeons serve as higher-tier versions of the existing 'Axion Infiltration Operations,' featuring expanded combat environments with new monster spawn patterns and mechanics, ensuring that even repeated runs feel fresh and challenging.
Finally Here! Ultimate Hailey!

New Inheritors with unique combat mechanics will also be introduced in the second half of the year to complement the unfolding story. The new Inheritor 'Raven,' debuting with Season 4 in August, is a former guild boss from the back alleys of Albion. Raven captivates players with flashy action that combines instantaneous repositioning with shotgun combat, as well as the ability to summon a raven to assist in battle. Raven is also deeply intertwined with the existing popular Inheritor 'Viessa,' which is expected to add further depth to the game's lore.
On September 17, the Ultimate version of the high-firepower 'Hailey' will be released. Ultimate Hailey offers a more destructive and diverse combat style through two exclusive modules: one specialized for area-of-effect annihilation and another focused on long-range piercing strikes. Additionally, a new Inheritor named 'Monet' will arrive in November with a completely new combat style, followed by the more powerful 'Ultimate Jayber' in December, ensuring a continuous stream of character growth and fun.
2nd Anniversary Events and Physical Figure Sales Announced

To celebrate the second anniversary, a variety of in-game and out-of-game events will be held to thank the players. These include the '2nd Anniversary Token Shop,' where players can exchange resources earned through gameplay for various items, as well as 'BB-On's Dice Run' and 'Growth Boost' events. The Token Shop will offer special anniversary skins and the first-ever 'Transcendence Alignment Device.' Additionally, a Twitch Drops event will be held, rewarding viewers with the rare 'Real Matte Black' paint based on their watch time on Chzzk (Korea) or Twitch (Global).
The 'Skin Contest,' which drew significant attention from global players, will begin its final round of voting on July 6. Furthermore, the company announced pre-orders for three physical figures: 'Nendoroid Bunny,' 'Figma Valby,' and a 'Scale Ultimate Bunny' figure, all designed to capture the charm of the game's popular characters.
