On the 10th, at the 2026 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) Bracket Stage Round 3 lower bracket match held at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, Lion defeated G2 Esports in a 3-0 shutout. While most had predicted a victory for G2, who had advanced after defeating TES and T1, Lion defied expectations by dominating G2 across all three sets, elevating the stature of the LCS. Lion will now face Hanwha Life Esports in the lower bracket final.
In Game 1, with kill scores remaining neck-and-neck, FlyQuest gained a psychological edge by unilaterally stacking three Dragons. G2 caught a break during the first Soul teamfight when 'SkewMond's Jarvan IV stole the Dragon and they managed to take down 'Berserker' Kim Min-seong's Ezreal. However, the next engagement told a different story. 'Saint' Kang Seong-in's Sylas initiated a bold play that dismantled G2, securing both the Dragon Soul and Baron for his team. With that momentum, FlyQuest took the first game.
In Game 2, 'Broken Blade' pulled out Yasuo as a counter to Gnar, but FlyQuest’s playstyle transcended the matchup, completely dismantling G2's win condition. Yasuo accumulated five deaths, while Gnar and 'Inspired's Lee Sin grew out of control, each picking up four kills. G2 attempted a comeback by catching Gnar and rushing Baron, but FlyQuest remained calm. During the standoff, 'Saint's Viktor effortlessly dodged the initiation and turned the fight around for an ace. FlyQuest then marched to the top lane and ended the game.
In what could have been the final game, Game 3, FlyQuest’s early movements were incredibly sharp. 'Inspired's Trundle landed effective hits in two separate bottom-lane ganks, providing a clear power boost, and they gained an advantage in skirmishes by trading their support for the enemy jungler. 'Dhokla's Olaf even roamed to the mid lane to take down 'Caps' Syndra. G2, having had their bottom-lane dive attempt perfectly anticipated and resulting in further kills for FlyQuest, entered a defensive posture, leading to a prolonged lull in action.
It was FlyQuest that broke the silence. After securing the second Dragon, they traded 'Isles' Bard for 'SkewMond's Wukong in the ensuing skirmish, then pushed into the enemy jungle to pick off Syndra and Wukong in succession, widening the gap further. FlyQuest’s focus was evident during their Baron take; they paused their damage output to catch an isolated Syndra, finished the Baron, and swept the remaining G2 forces. Ultimately, FlyQuest secured an ace in the final teamfight to take the third game.
