As the writer of this article, I am a fan of mint desserts. I almost always choose mint chocolate at ice cream shops, and whenever I spot a mint-flavored treat, I make it a point to buy and try it. So, when I heard about the collaboration between Lee Hwan and GS25—specifically a "cool and sweet mint chocolate roll cake"—I was intrigued.

The dessert is themed around 'Mint,' the main character of Lee Hwan. There was no reason not to buy it. I completed my order as soon as pre-orders opened on June 18, and after it arrived at my designated store on the 28th, I picked it up on my way to work.

Since mint chocolate is a polarizing flavor, I expect opinions on this dessert to vary, but I’d like to share my thoughts along with some photos.

This collaboration is part of a larger GS25 convenience store event running from June 18 to July 15. With a diverse lineup including lunchbox coupons, stamp events, and a semi-pop-up store in Hapjeong, the mint choco roll cake stands out as a premium dessert limited to 3k pre-order units.

Pre-orders were available exclusively through the convenience store app starting at 11:00 AM on June 18, with pickup available at designated stores after 4:00 PM on June 28. It is a one-time limited edition product.

The box design is a winner. The package retains the signature mint color of the main character, Mint, and features a bold illustration of her on the front. The side of the box lists the English labeling and nutritional information, where I discovered something slightly striking: the sugar content is 98g, accounting for 98% of the daily recommended intake.

Given that the entire roll cake weighs 330g, a high sugar content is expected, but in an era where sugar-free products are common, seeing such a high number was quite impressive. I decided to take it out and give it a taste.

Opening the box reveals the cake, wrapped in an additional layer of plastic. The seal is tight, and the box itself features a double-layered structure, showing real care in the packaging.

Inside the box, along with the cake, are two pieces of merchandise (an acrylic standee and a limited-edition photo card) and a plastic cake knife. It’s a thoughtful inclusion that allows you to cut and eat it right after picking it up at the store. The cake is about two-thirds the size of a 500ml soda bottle, which is a decent portion.

To summarize my tasting experience in one line: it’s a dessert that will likely divide opinions depending on whether you are a fan of mint chocolate or not.

The cake is slightly firmer than a typical roll cake, so the included knife doesn't cut through it perfectly in one go. The cream is soft, but the sweetness is quite intense.

The mint flavor is definitely present, but the sweetness is more prominent than the refreshing sensation typical of mint chocolate. If you are sensitive to sugar, you will definitely notice it.

While the food might be polarizing, the merchandise was fortunately satisfying. The photo card features high-quality illustrations and a decent surface coating. The concept of Mint holding a shopping basket ties in naturally with the "Convenience Store Tycoon" theme of this collaboration.

The acrylic standee also features a cute SD illustration. However, it is a bit thin, so if you were expecting something with more weight, you might be slightly disappointed. It’s about the size of a Galaxy Buds case, making it perfect for a desk.

As a collaboration merchandise package, it is meaningful enough, and for any appraiser who loves the character 'Mint,' it is definitely worth collecting. While the taste of the dessert itself may be a matter of preference, the package offers a fun experience when combined with the merchandise.

The 1.1 version of Lee Hwan is already in its final stages, and I’m soothing the end of this patch with this collaboration dessert prepared by Mint. I look forward to seeing more beautiful and delicious collaborations for appraisers in the future.
